WASHINGTON-- US Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) has announced that St. Clair County has been awarded a $4,179,000 grant from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
"This funding will allow St. Clair County to rehabilitate their facilities to better serve low-income families and to help these families obtain safe and affordable housing," said Costello. "I strongly support CDBG funds, which assists local housing authorities in their efforts to enhance public housing."
Costello has been a strong supporter of increasing HUD funding to extend these initiatives.
St. Clair County will use its funding for construction of new housing, housing rehabilitation, sewer and street improvements, handicap accessibility, and assistance for homeless individuals.
