SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY TO RECEIVE ADDITIONAL HEAD START FUNDS

WASHINGTON - US Congressman Jerry Costello announced today that Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and Edwardsville will receive additional funds to deliver educational services at both the Carbondale campus and in East St. Louis.

"Providing disadvantaged children equal opportunities to learn is one of the most important things we can do for our country's future," said Costello, who has continually fought to increase funding for the Head Start program in Congress.

This supplemental grant, from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, provides full-year part-day handicapped training and technical assistance.
