CONGRESSMAN COSTELLO ANNOUNCES $317,412 IN FEDERAL SCENIC BYWAYS GRANTS
WASHINGTON-- Congressman Jerry F. Costello (D-IL) today announced that scenic byways in the MetroEast area, Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Route and Great Rivers Road, will receive $317,412 in federal funds to improve the Scenic Byways from the Federal Highway Administration.
"Scenic byways are a significant asset to our community," Costello said. "I am pleased the byways will receive this funding, which will continue expanded tourism in our area."
Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Route, which runs from Alton to Kampsville, will receive $25,000 for administrative project coordination and tourism management funding.
Great River Road, which runs the length of the Mississippi from Dubuque, Iowa to Pudacah, Kentucky, will receive $292,412 for promotion of the Byway and implementation of the Corridor Management Plan.
Two hundred thousand dollars is also available
statewide for marketing initiatives.
