Washington -- U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the O'Fallon Fire Department has received a $7,974 Assistance to Firefighters grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The grant will be matched by $886 in local funds and will be used for fire operations and firefighter safety. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program last Congress.
"Our first responders need adequate resources to ensure public safety," said Costello. "These funds will enhance fire protection services in St. Clair County, and I will work to ensure that these resources remain available."
Costello is a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He is the ranking Democrat on the Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management Subcommittee.
