COSTELLO PROVIDES INFORMATION ON UNDELIVERED TAX REFUNDS IN 12th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

Washington -- U.S. Congressman Jerry F. Costello announced today he is providing information to taxpayers in the 12th Congressional District regarding undeliverable tax refunds from the Internal Revenue Service for 2001.

Congressman Costello discovered that thousands of dollars of tax refunds for constituents in the 12th Congressional District were undeliverable or unclaimed from the IRS.

Current federal law prevents the IRS from releasing the names - so Congressman Costello is stepping in to get the word out. "I want to spread the word about these unclaimed tax refunds - in hopes people will see their name on the refund list and call the IRS to claim their check," said Costello.

If anyone believes that they have an undelivered tax refund due, taxpayers can contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to have their refund reissued or they can visit Congressman Costello's Web site at http://www.house.gov/.
