NORTHWEST ST. CLAIR COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES FEMA GRANT

Washington -- U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Northwest St. Clair County Fire Protection District has received a $43,434 Assistance to Firefighters grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The grant will be matched by $4,825 in local funds and will be used for fire operations and firefighter safety. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program last Congress.

"Our number one priority must always be the safety of our communities," said Costello. "These funds will enhance fire protection services in St. Clair County, and I will work to ensure that these resources remain available."

Costello is a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He is the ranking Democrat on the Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management Subcommittee.
