SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY CARBONDALE RECEIVES HEAD START GRANT

Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Southern Illinois University Carbondale has been awarded a $1,416,056 Head Start grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for its Handicapped Training and Technical Assistance program.

"I have consistently supported funding for early education programs," said Costello. "Learning to read and write is the foundation of a good education. Head Start has been extremely successful in equipping our students for the future."
