Washington- U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Franklin-Williamson Human Services, located in Marion, has received a $100,000 Drug-Free Communities Support grant through the U.S. Department of Justice. The funds will be used to implement drug-use prevention activities as part of the Marion Partnership for Youth.
"Drug abuse is a serious problem, and community-wide efforts such as this are very effective," said Costello, a former law enforcement official. "We must work to give our children every opportunity to succeed. Helping them stay away from drugs gives them a better chance."
