Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the final version of the Transportation-Treasury-HUD Appropriations bill for fiscal year 2006 approved by the House of Representatives includes $2.88 million for St. Louis Downtown Airport. The funds will be used to construct a new air traffic control tower. The bill is expected to be signed into law in the near future. Costello previously secured $850,000 for site and design work for the project.
"St. Louis Downtown Airport is a major contributor to economic development in the Metro East," Costello said. "The new air traffic control tower is an important step in modernizing the airport so that it can continue to effectively serve the region."
