SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY CARBONDALE RECEIVES HEAD START GRANT

Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) has been awarded a $1,371,161 Head Start grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  The money will be used for the full-year, part-day Handicapped Training and Technical Assistance program.

"Head Start is one of the most effective federal programs," Costello said.  "Early learning helps prepare children for success in school, and this is another great example of the important contributions SIUC is making to the community."
