COSTELLO STATEMENT ON METRO HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT

Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL), the ranking Democrat on the House Aviation Subcommittee, released the following statement regarding today's press conference to announce a $1,154,920 grant for METRO for intercity transit security from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security 

"This is important funding, and it is critical that we continue to address security needs across the entire nation and across all modes of transportation.  Our regional transportation networks not only support the economy, but they are vital resources during emergencies.  For these reasons, we must continually address the security needs of these systems, and devote the necessary resources to ensure they are safe.  Maintaining a high level of security takes cooperation at all levels of government, and I will continue to support these efforts."
