HOUSE PASSES DEFENSE AUTHORIZATION BILL, INCLUDES LOCAL PROJECTS
Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the following projects in the 12 th Congressional District are part of the final Fiscal Year 2008 Defense Authorization bill:
- Scott Air Force Base
- $16.7 million for construction of a Security Forces Operations building.
- $8.2 million for construction of a new Child Development Center.
- St. Clair County - $8.1 million for construction of a Readiness Center to be used by the Illinois Army Reserve and Illinois National Guard.
- $1.6 million for Ultra Lightweight Metallic Armor - Produced by Magnesium Elektron North America, located in Madison, this advanced armor design will help the Army meet operational weight requirements while better protecting our soldiers.
"These are important projects for enhancing Scott Air Force Base and protecting our soldiers," said Costello. "Authorization of these priorities is an important part of the funding process."
