Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the City of West Frankfort, has received a $295,561 Rural Law Enforcement Assistance grant as part of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding from the U.S. Department of Justice. The funds will be used to maintain police services and staffing levels and support coordinated drug and criminal investigations conducted by the West Frankfort Police Department to address the sale of illicit drugs.
“Local law enforcement is confronted with a variety of problems, and federal resources help keep our communities safe,” said Costello, a former police officer. “Public Safety is a necessity for economic development, and this is another example of how Recovery Act funding is meeting critical public needs while preserving jobs.”
