Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the City of Carbondale has received a $366,351 Encourage Arrest Policies Program grant from the Violence Against Women Office of the U.S. Department of Justice. The funds will be used to maintain advocacy and legal staff to provide an array of domestic violence services.
“Domestic violence is a serious crime and this money will allow for better education, prevention and outreach to victims,” said Costello, a former law enforcement official. “I support these efforts to enhance the safety of our communities.”
