ALTON SCHOOL DISTRICT RECEIVES EDUCATION GRANT

Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Alton Community Unit School District #11 has been awarded a $95,000 FIE Earmark Grant Awards Program grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant will be used to fund the school district’s program to implement an elementary arts program and to develop two community technology centers.

“Art education is a valuable component of a well-rounded curriculum. This is important not only in the development of budding artists but also in planting the seed of artistic appreciation for all students,” said Costello. “I will continue to support initiatives that enhance and improve our children’s education.”
