Reading Eagle: Reading Regional Airport lands $1.7 million grant

The Reading Regional Airport will add a new light guidance system for its runways and undertake other renovations thanks to a hefty grant from the federal government. 

The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the airport $1,716,221 to install vertical and visual guidance systems - which use lights to help guide pilots as they land - and rehabilitate its taxiway.

The grant is part of a federal program aimed at funding critical updating of the nation's infrastructure and improving the quality of life for communities.

U.S. Rep. Ryan Costello, a Chester County Republican who also represents part of Berks, lauded the announcement of the grant.
