Congressman Ryan Costello

Representing the 6th District of Pennsylvania

Costello Announces 2016 Service Academy Nominees

January 19, 2016
Press Release

West Chester, PA – Today, Congressman Ryan Costello (PA-06) announced that 32 students in Pennsylvania’s Sixth Congressional District have received his nomination to one of our nation’s prestigious service academies. In an effort to assist in the nomination process, Congressman Costello appointed community members with a military background to a nonpartisan Academy Advisory Board. The Academy Advisory Board selects nominees based on academic achievements, leadership skills, extracurricular activities, physical fitness, and character.

Congressman Costello congratulated the individuals on their nomination: “I applaud these fine students on their motivation to serve our nation and their interest in wearing the uniform at one of our nation’s military academies. These students have demonstrated tremendous leadership in their communities and schools and I have no doubt that they will excel at the highest level. It is a high privilege to offer these nominations and I thank these young men and women for their willingness to serve our nation.”

It is important to note that the nomination from Congressman Costello does not guarantee admission to a service academy. The final admittance remains up to the academies’ admissions boards.
