Costello Announces Pennsburg Firefighters Receiving Federal Grant

West Chester, PA – Congressman Ryan Costello (PA-06) recently announced that Pennsburg Fire Company #1 will receive a federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG). The Pennsburg Fire Company, located in Montgomery County, will receive $54,477 to improve operations and safety.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) work cooperatively with the U.S. Fire Administration to provide funding critical to strengthening the nation’s level of preparedness.

“Pennsburg firefighters will use these vital funds to purchase necessary safety and operations equipment to keep our communities safe,” said Congressman Ryan Costello. “This grant will help Pennsburg Fire Company continue bringing quality services across Montgomery County. We all appreciate their service and commitment. ”

As a Member of Congress, Costello has made it a priority to identify ways to be an advocate for our local first responders. As a member of the House EMS Caucus, he has called for continued support for the AFG program.

In Fiscal Year 2014, FEMA’s AFG program will award approximately *$340 million directly to fire departments and non-affiliated EMS organizations to enhance their response capabilities and to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel with respect to fire and other hazards.
