Costello Votes To Fund Department of Homeland Security
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ryan Costello (R-PA) released the following statement after voting in favor of the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act. Today, the House passed H.R. 240 by a vote of 236 to 191 to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security.
“With our nation at a constant risk of evolving and continued terror threats, today’s legislation is a necessary step towards providing the Department of Homeland Security with the proper resources to keep our country safe. By providing $47.8 billion to the DHS we will be able to fully fund the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) – and in doing so support the largest operational force levels in our history – while providing critical funding to bring greater security against cyberthreats.
“This legislation will ensure that Congress preserves essential oversight to stop enforcement of the President’s unilateral executive actions with respect to immigration. We all know our immigration system is broken but the President acting alone is not the way for meaningful reform. I look forward to continuing with this conversation in the coming months to produce meaningful solutions to our broken immigration system”
