ICYMI: East Penn Manufacturing Co-Founder Honored on U.S. House Floor

Washington, DC – This week, Congressman Ryan Costello (PA-06) and Congressman Charlie Dent (PA-15) took to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to honor the late co-founder and chairman emeritus of East Penn Manufacturing, DeLight Breidegam Jr. Mr. Breidegam Jr. passed away last week at the age of 88. Under Mr. Breidegam’s leadership, East Penn grew to Berks County’s second-largest employer – employing about 7,000 in Berks County and 8,000 workers worldwide.

“East Penn Manufacturing is nothing short of an American success story,” said Congressman Costello. He continued, “Mr. Breidegam was an innovator, leader, and offered the best of Berks County manufacturing. He is a tremendous asset, as is his company, to the Berks County community. While we are sad for his passing, Mr. Dent and I wish to recognize him for all his great accomplishments in the community.” You can view his remarks here.

“DeLight started his business with his father at the age of 20. He and his father worked tirelessly at both their small company and part time jobs to make ends meet,” said Congressman Dent. “Through their tenacious talent, DeLight grew a business that now employs over 7,000 people in Berks County and beyond.
