Rep. Costello Presents Service Medals to Local Family
West Chester, PA – Rep. Ryan Costello (PA-06) recently presented service medals to a Chester County family whose father served during World War II. Herbert Brockman was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medal with three bronze service stars, the World War II Victory medal, and the Honorable Service Lapel Pin. The Distinguished Flying Cross is one of the highest honors to be awarded to service members and represents bravery in an aerial flight while serving during combat.
Rep. Costello joined Mr. Brockman’s daughter, Susan, and grandsons to present the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze service stars, and to replace several of the other medals he received for his service.
“It is an honor and a privilege to work with families in our community to locate and present service medals for veterans or families of veterans, and to hear their humbling stories of heroism,” said Rep. Costello.
Mr. Brockman’s family wanted to make sure they had each of the medals Mr. Brockman was awarded in order for future generations of the family to have the opportunity to know their grandfather’s distinguished service to the country.
Staff in Rep. Costello’s offices in West Chester and Wyomissing are able to assist constituents with locating service medals. Click here for more information.
